Apple has really leaned into the idea of keeping things simple.
I’ve been using iPhone for years and only a couple years ago started getting more apple devices like the iPad air and Apple Watch. These devices have made my life so much simpler because they all sync so well together. I can make a quick note to myself on my phone and then review and process it later on my iPad. If I want to make a reminder to myself, I can do a simple voice command via my Apple Watch and see it on my iPhone later.
I truly believe that the way Apple has created their ecosystem is amazing and gets underutilized because of outside apps. While it’s true that some apps do what Apple does, but better, there’s no comparison to how well everything works together and how simple the tools are to use.
It All Works Together
Apple uses the iCloud to store all internal usage you get from the app. Things like Reminders, Notes, Word Docs, Files, etc. all get stored on the iCloud for you to view and make changes to on any of your devices.
There is even a web app for iCloud that you can access even if you are on a Windows machine. It doesn’t work as well as it would on an Apple device, but it works well enough.
Beauty in Simplicity
Apple has been fantastic in it’s user interface because it keeps everything simple.
This is great, especially for note-taking, because it lets me focus on the actual writing and not all the fancy bells and whistles other apps tend to have that I don’t really need.
There are also plenty of shortcuts that let me add things on the fly. For example, I can easily tell Siri to remind me to take out the trash when I arrive home. Keywords like “when I arrive home” are great because when I get home, I’ll receive a notification reminding me to go take out the trash. All this can be done via my Apple Watch as well.
Great for Quick Capturing
While some apps like Notion are really amazing, sometimes all you need is to make a quick note. Apple Notes beats Notion in that regard because I can add a quick button to my control center on my iPhone to add a Quick Note to my Apple Notes app. Then I can process that quick note into Notion later.
I still use Notion regularly, but more for when I’m doing some deep writing. Most Apple Tools are simplistic so they tend to get used for quick capturing information I know I’ll need later.
